SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A Sioux City firefighter was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after falling through the floor during a fire call at a Morningside home. Sioux City Fire Rescue says at about 7:50 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13, they were called to 1108 S. Fairmount Street for a house fire. A passerby originally reported smoke coming from the building. When crews arrived, they found a single-story home with light smoke coming from the structure.

Tuesday morning, a call came in for a fire in the 1100 block of South Fairmount Street for smoke coming from a building. A mayday call came, saying one of the firefighters had fallen through the floor into the basement. That firefighter was rescued and taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. A firefighter on scene spoke with KTIV and said there was no one home at the time of the fire.

The “Cardinal Vision” plan from the South Sioux City Community School District will cost $127 million upon completion. The district says it’s a steal of a price for all it would improve. “Three new schools, a large K-4 elementary that will accommodate about 600 students, and a new 5-6 Intermediate School.
