Howth’s King Sitric is one of our Fab 50 best places to stay in Ireland for 2025In my eyes, there’s not much better on a sunny Dublin day than getting the Dart out to Howth, hiking the cliff path, and nabbing a table at King Sitric for a giant platter of buttery lobster, golden chips and a glass of something white and cold. But while this seafood restaurant has been a Howth mainstay for over 50 years, not as many realise it’s also a guesthouse, with rooms overlooking the sea above the restaurant.

Imagine paddling a kayak on the Atlantic, while gazing up at the highest sea cliffs in Europe. Or heading out on a fishing boat just as the sun rises, before eating your catch for breakfast. Or spending the evening hopping between cosy pubs filled with the refrains of traditional music, as turf smoulders in the fireplace. That’s just what you can expect from an adventure on the coast of the island of Ireland.
