A new campaign to encourage more people to become organ donors has been launched in the Highlands. Scotland has an opt-out system – but 60% of families refuse to allow their loved ones’ organs to be transplanted, as they often don’t know their wishes. The Moray community is coming together to try to tackle coastal erosion over fears a vital car park could be lost if it’s not protected from the effects of the sea. Moray Council says it won’t renew its lease of the West Beach Car Park in Lossiemouth. But businesses say it must be saved for the sake of the local economy.

Now a man in the Highlands is using his personal experience with cancer to highlight the disparity between care in Scotland and south of the border. After being diagnosed with liver cancer, Kevin Weymss was only able to get one NHS-funded test to see if he was suitable for treatment. However if he was in England, he would get 12.
