DEARBORN, MI— Gas prices in Michigan are down 15 cents from last week. Michigan drivers are now paying an average of $3.08 per gallon for regular unleaded. This price is 8 cents more than this time last month but still 62 cents less than this time last year. Motorists are paying an average of $46 for a full 15-gallon tank of gasoline; a discount of about $11 from 2024's highest price last July.

LANSING, MI— The Department of Natural Resources continues to clean up damage caused by a massive ice storm in the northern Lower Peninsula. Several state parks, state park campgrounds, state forest campgrounds, boating access sites and state-managed trails were affected. As a result, a number of areas were temporarily closed until safe access could be restored.

ISHPEMING, MI— UPHS-Bell CEO Mitch Leckelt is retiring June 1, after serving more than 11 years in the post. Leckelt joined the hospital as CEO in 2014 after serving as vice president of operations at Marquette General Hospital, now UP Health System-Marquette. Following Leckelt’s departure, Tonya Darner, CEO of UPHS–Marquette, will be promoted to Market CEO of both Marquette and Bell hospitals and Alyson Sundberg will assume a new leadership role as chief operating officer at Bell.
