LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A hazardous waste center in Lincoln is extending its hours for the summer, city officials announced Tuesday. HazToGo, located at 5101 N. 48th St., will now be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Those hours will extend through August. The center is also open on the third Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to city officials. HazToGo accepts several items, like pesticides, lawn chemicals, paint thinners and pool cleaning chemicals.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Fire & Rescue responded to a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday morning along Nebraska Parkway. The crash happened around 10:20 a.m. at 48th Street and Nebraska Parkway. A Channel 8 reporter at the scene said at least four vehicles were involved in the crash. Another video on the NOW Local News App showed LFR crews responding to the scene. It’s unknown what led up to the crash or if there were any injuries. A part of the intersection was closed due to the crash.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln’s nine pools will be closed Tuesday due to cold weather, officials announced. City policy requires a high temperature of at least 70 degrees for pools to open. After a brief weather delay, the pools were opened for the season on Thursday. Once the weather warms up, the pools will be open from 1 to 6 p.m. daily. More information can be found on the city’s website.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two people were injured Sunday afternoon in a crash in rural Gage County, the sheriff’s office says. The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on Highway 77 and Highway 41, just south of Cortland. The sheriff’s office said a motorcycle was heading north when it went around a curve, went off the road and flipped. The driver, a 66-year-old man from Lincoln, was flown to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
