    A group representing school principals has raised concern about the extension of free school books to 5th and 6th year students.   The National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals has argued their members do not believe there is adequate supports available to them to deliver the scheme in its current form.  NAPD Director Paul Crone urged the Government to exercise caution.

    Courtmacsherry RNLI went to the aid of two people on speedboats in West Cork after 8pm last night. Crews rushed to the water off Blind Strand on the Seven Heads coastline after receiving a mayday message from one of the boats, which was in danger of sinking. A local man in a boat nearby was first on the scene and pulled one speedboat away from the rocky shore and helped bail out water from the second. The boats arrived back at Courtmacsherry pier at 9:40pm.

    A family living in a Council flat on Fort Street in the city say they have been living with rodent infestations in their home for a number of years. Anita and Mohammed Mukhtar say they have had enough and now want to move out of the flat they have called home for over 10 years. They say they have been trying to contact the Council by phone and email but have not received a response to their complaints.
