Police are investigating a spate of four house burglaries in Bishop’s Stortford in the same night by vehicle thieves. The intruders succeeded in taking three cars and a bicycle from two of the homes but were thwarted at the two others by the occupants waking up. The burglars also took watches, a phone, a games console and cash. The properties targeted were in the Hadham Road area, Bishop’s Park and Thorley Park.

A house in Bishop’s Stortford was burgled in the night by thieves who tried to steal the sleeping occupants’ vehicle. The break-in happened in Burghley Avenue on the Bishop’s Park estate between 4am and 4.12am on Friday (May 9). According to police, the burglars used a tool to force open the front door. They made a tidy search of the house and left with undisclosed items and a set of vehicle keys.

Police are appealing for the public’s help in identifying a man following a house burglary in Bishop’s Stortford on Good Friday. Laptops, jewellery and money were stolen in the break-in, which happened in Warwick Road – home of Herts and Essex High School – on Friday April 18 between 11.45am and 12.15pm. Det Con Tyla Cox, from the East Herts local crime unit, said: “We have recently obtained CCTV footage as part of our investigation and are hoping the public may recognise the person pictured.

A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after a crash in Bishop’s Stortford on Wednesday afternoon (May 7). Police and paramedics were called soon after 1.30pm to the scene of a collision in Stansted Road involving a green Hyundai i10 and a grey Yamaha motorcycle. A spokesman for Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “A man has been taken to hospital by paramedics.
