When three friends from the Bishop’s Stortford am dram scene decided to start their own theatre company, they were unanimous about what their debut play should be. And so Act 3’s Cat Quigley, Charlotte Pritchard and Becky Faulkner staged The Vagina Monologues at South Mill Arts – possibly for the first time in Stortford in the play’s 29-year existence. It was written in 1996 by American woman Eve Ensler – two years after she started talking to a friend in New York about the menopause.

Two suspected drug dealers were arrested and class A drugs and their vehicle were seized after they were stopped by police on patrol in the early hours. The car was stopped on the A1184 at Spellbrook shortly before 1am on Wednesday (May 21) and officers carried out searches. The 29-year-old driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs, driving while unfit through drink/drugs and driving while disqualified.

The schoolgirl making her way home who was followed off a bus by a man who had been intimidating her ran off and hid from him, it has emerged. The incident involving a student at Birchwood High School happened on Tuesday afternoon (May 20). According to the girl’s mother, the man was aged 40 to 50. The Indie originally reported the incident on Wednesday (May 21) and was awaiting a statement from Hertfordshire Constabulary, which has now been supplied.

A 14-year-old girl has gone missing from Bishop’s Stortford. Police are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare and are appealing for the public’s help to find her. Scarlett was last seen at Trinity Street Park, next to Holy Trinity Church in South Street, on Wednesday (May 21) at around midday. She is described as being around 5ft 5in tall, with dark hair and blue eyes. She has dental braces. It is unknown what she was wearing at the time of her disappearance.

A girl was followed off a bus by a man who had been intimidating her as she made her way home from school in Bishop’s Stortford. The incident involved a student at Birchwood High School and happened on Tuesday afternoon (May 20). According to the girl’s mother, the man was aged 40 to 50. The Parsonage Lane secondary said in an alert to parents and carers today (Wednesday): “We have been informed of an incident that occurred yesterday after school on the 509 bus route towards Bishop’s Stortford.
