    A man was arrested at Stansted Airport on Monday (June 2) as part of the investigation into a spate of arsons in north London linked to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. The 48-year-old detainee, whose nationality is not known, is the fourth to be arrested. The three others – two Ukrainian nationals and a Romanian in their 20s and 30s – have been charged with arson or conspiracy to commit arson and have been remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday (June 6).

    A van owner wants to know who stabbed all four tyres on his vehicle while it was parked legally in a Bishop’s Stortford residential street. The victim, who is disabled and recovering from having a collapsed lung removed, says the damage has cost him more than £1,300 to repair. He has shared CCTV footage with the Indie in the hope of being able to identify the culprit. He has also sent it to Hertfordshire police.

    A man living in Bishop’s Stortford has been jailed after cannabis estimated to be worth more than £500,000 was discovered at a house in Hertford. Police were contacted following suspicious activity at the property in Mimram Road. Officers attended on Wednesday April 9 and discovered the building had been converted into a cannabis factory. The power supply had been dangerously tampered with. Two men tried to escape through the roof but were arrested a short time later and taken into police custody.

    When three friends from the Bishop’s Stortford am dram scene decided to start their own theatre company, they were unanimous about what their debut play should be. And so Act 3’s Cat Quigley, Charlotte Pritchard and Becky Faulkner staged The Vagina Monologues at South Mill Arts – possibly for the first time in Stortford in the play’s 29-year existence. It was written in 1996 by American woman Eve Ensler – two years after she started talking to a friend in New York about the menopause.
