    Skateboarders, BMX and scooter riders and inline skaters from across the country will take part in this year’s Stansted Skate Park Jam. The annual event is a regular on the skating calendar and attracts hundreds of participants and visitors every year with a dazzling display of stunts and tricks performed.     An underused outdoor hut has been transformed into a new wellness hub for teens at Herts & Essex High School thanks to the expertise of a former student. Interior designer Pippa Jameson, who runs her own company The Sensory Home, worked closely with the Warwick Road secondary to design a carefully thought-out retreat that offers pupils a relaxing, safe space to “take time out” if they are feeling anxious, stressed or overwhelmed.

    A 55-year-old man has been charged with drink-driving after police were called to a disturbance in Stansted in the middle of the night. Officers were called to Cannons Mead, off Bentfield Road, near the junction with the B1383 Cambridge Road and Chapel Hill, at around 2.30am on Wednesday (June 4) but the suspect made off. A spokesman for Essex Police said: “We were called to reports of a disturbance in Cannons Mead. Officers attended and a vehicle was seen to leave the area.

    Four men have been charged – and three of them have appeared in court – following a series of thefts from Bishop’s Stortford’s Co-op store in the space of five days. The supermarket in Sexton Road, opposite the railway station, has been targeted by shoplifters numerous times since it opened last August, causing concern about the impact on staff and their safety. Police were quick to act following a string of incidents between Tuesday last week (May 27) and Sunday (June 1).

    All the fun of the fair is coming to Elsenham CofE Primary School on Saturday (June 7) for its annual summer fete. Everything from bouncy castles, face painting, golf putting and a coconut shy to a ‘beat the goalie’ football challenge, an all-day DJ, barbecue and bar will be set out in the school grounds. Gates will open at 11am until 2pm at the school in High Street and the event is open for all to attend.
