Her position was created in 2021, to help during mental health crises at schools. She works closely with school resource officers and can be dispatched to help out in many situations.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – This week, the Nebraska Democratic Party filed an objection with the secretary of state to bar independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. from the ballot. RFK Jr. has submitted more than 5,000 signatures to get on the ballot in Nebraska, more than double the number required for nonpartisan candidates. But Nebraska Democrats claim that Kennedy and running mate Nicole Shanahan are not truly nonpartisan candidates under state law.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Cattle ranchers across the state are in a constant battle with the elements, especially during the summer. Keeping cows, bulls and steers cool and comfortable when temperatures ramp up is key for the state’s No. 1 industry. Larry Hudkins, a farmer in Malcolm, already lost a cow to heat this year. “When we had that 100-degree day,” Hudkins said. “She was an older cow.”So he’s taking even more precautions to keep the creatures safe.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A nighttime home invasion in south Lincoln has neighbors on edge. Two armed men broke into a home near 56th Street and Old Cheney Road about 3:30 a.m. Monday. Police said they stole $300 in cash, some cigars and three vehicle key fobs. The total value of items taken was $1,000. The robbers fired three shots in the home. Police found bullets in the floor and walls, but no one was hurt.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – As President Joe Biden faces calls to quit his reelection bid, Channel 8 asked voters what they think about both candidates. Fiona Berkin, a Biden supporter, said the president’s performance at last week’s debate gives her concerns, but she is confident that he is her choice. “When I sat back and thought about it for a minute, like, ‘Let’s not panic. This is our guy,'” Berkin said. “He won last time, Biden; he’ll win this time. His record speaks for itself. He had a bad night.
