Now, she’s the longest-serving employee with the organization after spending 55 years continuously working there. The Caledonia native, who previously worked at St. Francis Hospital in La Crosse, started as an occupational therapy assistant at Lake Winona Manor. In that position, which she held for 38 years, she became a certified activity director.

    The Arcadia Police Department faced a long string of resignations in recent months that amounted to its entire force. The series of resignations includes the city's former police chief Diana Anderson and officers Edwin Olmos Arias, Lucas Lindquist, Isrrael Garcia and Brandon Larson. Anderson joined the department in August 2012, according to an article from the Winona Daily News at the time.

    Saint Thomas Academy took the first-place win during the Make48 challenge that started May 2 in Winona. The team won a cash prize of $2,000 and a custom trophy. They will also move on to the national competition in November. The team included Cory Bustamanta Chicaiza, Colin Shea, Leo Cleary and Mark Westlake. Westlake had previous experience from the 2022 Make48 competition. Saint Thomas Academy is located in Mendota Heights near St. Paul.

    Winona police have released the identities of the two men involved in a fatal crash Monday that involved an e-bike. The man riding the e-bike who died at the scene of the crash was 67-year-old Winona resident Michael John Ryan. The driver of the vehicle that collided with the e-bike has been identified as 54-year-old Gregory Stephen Ferriss of Winona. Police responded to the crash at the intersection of Sixth and Liberty streets at 7:57 p.m. Monday.
