    WINONA, Minn. – Sentence was handed down Thursday for a 2024 apartment shooting in Winona. Cole Robert Cameron, 27 of Winona, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon. Court documents state that an argument took place around 4:21 am on October 17, 2024, between Cameron and another man in the third-floor hallway of the apartment building. Police say Ring camera video of the hallway shows Cameron going back to his apartment during the argument and returning with a handgun.

    ST. PAUL, Minn. — U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith are announcing a $5 million grant to address storm damage in Southeastern Minnesota. The funds will be used to survey and repair infrastructure affected by severe flooding in May 2024 across 42 counties. "The floods of May 2024 took a heavy toll on southeastern and south-central Minnesota," Klobuchar said. "This funding will allow us to repair and rebuild our roads and infrastructure."Smith emphasized the need for safe travel.

    WINONA COUNTY, Minn. – A collision between a pickup truck and an ATV injured two people Thursday morning. It happened a little before 9:30 am on southbound Highway 43 in Winona County. The Minnesota State Patrol says Kerry Robert Heiden, 71 of Rushford, was driving a 2024 GMC Sierra when he crashed near mile marker 36 with the 2019 Polaris ATV driven by Elmer Herman Gilow, 87 of Winona, that was westbound and crossing Highway 43.

    MANKATO, Minn. – The murder charge against a son accused of killing his father has been dismissed. Travis Ryan Earle, 27 of Mankato, was arrested for second-degree murder in the April 2022 death of Steven Lynn Earle, 59. Investigators say Steven Earle called 911 about his son having a knife and Blue Earth County dispatch says it heard an apparent struggle on the open phone while deputies rushed to the scene. When deputies arrived, they said Travis Earle admitted to stabbing his father.
