MEDIAPOLIS, Iowa (KWQC) - Crews battled a fire in Mediapolis Wednesday. No one was home at the time of the fire, but two dogs were rescued, crews said. A house located on 1003 Main Street has had crews present battling a house fire for multiple hours, according to a TV6 viewer. Crews said they received the call around 11:20 a.m. for flames shooting out of the house. When crews arrived, they said they had to call for back up.

MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - A touching tradition continues as the ‘Paint the Ice’ event is underway in preparation for the Quad City Storm’s Hockey Fights Cancer Night game on Friday. The hockey team invites those whose lives have been impacted by cancer to paint names and messages on the ice on Monday until 7 p.m. at the Vibrant Arena at The Mark, 1201 River Drive, according to event organizers. Paint and brushes are provided.

MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - A new flight is taking off from the Quad Cities International Airport. A ribbon cutting ceremony was held to celebrate the addition of a twice-daily flight to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport, an announcement that was made back in July. QCIA officials say Charlotte ranks among the top 20 busiest airports in the world and recently TV6′s Marcia Lense sat down with a spokesperson from QCIA who says a major Quad Cities employer is partly responsible for the addition.

MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - Thursday marked the 82nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor and veterans and members of the Quad Cities came out to honor the day with a ceremony. The Mississippi Valley Pearl Harbor Survivors Association teamed up with the American Legion Honor Guard for the ceremony. Members say that it is important that we remember this day in U.S. history. “We can’t forget Pearl Harbor,” said James Joseph WWII Navy Veteran.

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - The Davenport Fire Department is reminding the community on the importance of safe home heating this winter with the “Keep the Wreath Red Campaign”, a campaign that many fire departments across several states participate participate in. The Davenport Fire Department says for every fire the department responds to during the campaign one red light on the wreath will be changed to a white light.
