More than 6000 out of power in Tehama County

At this hour, more than 6,000 customers in Tehama County are without power due to a power outage that may have started at a PG&E blown transformer at about 9:10 PM Saturday. The power outage affects 6,001 customers in the county, including 3,118 within Red Bluff. According to the PG&E outage map, about 2,883 customers in the county’s incorporated area are powerless. The unincorporated areas of those who lost power have reached as far south as Proberta.

The Red Bluff Round-Up barrel racing slot was held on Friday, and several local riders qualified for this weekend's Roundup, which begins Friday at 7 p.m. 21. The highest local qualifiers for barrel racing were Gerber's Kaillee Hamre and Chco's Mindy Beardsley, who both came in at 21st with a ride of 18 seconds. Marysville's Ann McGilchrist came in tied for 26th with a time of 18.09.

Healthy Spartans topple Orland, 17-5

The Red Bluff Varsity softball team was finally healthy again on Thursday evening and the Spartans showed it in a 17-5 victory over Orland. The win broke up a string of recent plays where Red Bluff had lost five of its last six after a hot start, then as coach Chad Vaillette noted, the flu rolled through the team. "We really didn't recover from that. So we kind of moved some things," he said "(Today) was our fire. This is how we want to look." Vaillette said.
