St. Mark's Episcopal Church has had its share of trials and tribulations during its first 200 years. The historic St. Albans house of worship was destroyed by fire 20 years after it opened its doors in 1825. Then, after being replaced by a new Gothic Revival style brick building two years later, it was occupied by Union troops — and their horses — during the Civil War, causing damage that took more than 60 years to fully restore.

According to the DEP, the Air Quality Advisory means that fire particulate concentrations within the region could reach levels that make outside air quality unhealthy for sensitive groups, including those with respiratory issues, children and the elderly. GREEN BANK, W.Va. — Much has been learned about Fort Warwick since husband-and-wife archeologists Stephen and Kim McBride first verified the location of the Revolutionary War outpost back in 1990. Now, 250 years after the first shots in the war for independence rang out in Massachusetts, the effort to learn more about the fort and the people who occupied it continues, as demonstrated by a multi-day archeological excavation at the site that ended on May 17. kAm|2C=:?E@?

HICO, W.Va. — When a group of Fayette County residents and business operators sought help starting a community conversation on how to manage new development north of the New River Gorge Bridge, they turned to an unconventional resource: 200 middle school students. It turned out to be a good choice. On May 13, more than 300 adults took part in a North of the Bridge Open House at Midland Trail High School in Hico, which includes a middle school component serving about 200 students.
