SUNBURY — More than 25 people participated in a firefighting recruitment event held at Route 61 Events, just outside Sunbury on Monday night. State Sen. Lynda Schlegel Culver and state Rep. Mike Stender hosted the event. Both said they felt the event could potentially get firefighters involved in the Valley. “I hope that this event can help some of our local first responders come up with different ideas to recruit and retain volunteers,” Stender said.
