    SPOKANE, Wash. -- A Spokane Chiefs player is being recognized for their sportsmanship! Chiefs forward and captain Berkly Catton was awarded the Brad Hornung Memorial Trophy which is the Western Hockey League's Most Sportsmanlike Player for the 2024-25 season. Catton was among six players nominated for the award. He is also nominated for the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy awarded to the WHL Player of the Year. Catton racked up 109 points in 57 games last season with 38 goals and 71 assists.

The festival will feature high flying kites with awards being given like Best in Show, High Flyer, and Best Homemade. No kite? No problem! The City of Hayden will be handing out kites for free.     SPOKANE, Wash. -- The FBI is investigating a rise of incidents involving people pointing lasers at aircraft in Spokane. According to the FBI, the agency is seeing a dramatic increase of people pointing lasers at planes flying near Spokane International Airport. The FBI says incidents have occurred in the West Plains, Nine Mile Falles, Green Bluff and Hillyard neighborhoods. There are also multiple reports incidents in Seattle near SEA-TAC but not believed to be related.

    KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho -- Scammers are impersonating law enforcement in attempts to fraud people living in Kootenai County. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office says it's seeing an alarming rise in these scam calls. KCSO says the scammers will pretend to be law enforcement officers in order to get people to give up money or personal information. The agency says the scammers are able to manipulate their phone numbers to make it look like KCSO is calling.

    BONNER COUNTY, Idaho -- If you see smoke north of Priest River Wednesday, don't be alarmed. The U.S. Forest Service is conducting a prescribed burn on 13 acres of land near Jasper Mountain today about 15 miles north of Priest River. The Bonner County Sheriff's Office says people may see smoke in surrounding areas, but you're asked to not call 911. Prescribed burns are conducted when weather is favorable to help reduce wildfire risk in the hotter months.
