The cold snap that has enveloped Pennsylvania in recent days is expected to break by Thursday, but not before another round of school delays and warming shelters across the region. The cold weather advisory announced by the National Weather Service earlier this week will remain in effect until noon Wednesday. All Valley schools that were in session Tuesday delayed the start of classes with temperatures at or below zero around the time buses would have been picking up students for the day.

Thirty-one SUN Area Technical Institute Advertising Art and Design and Collision Repair Technology students combined their talents and different skill sets to win the PennDOT Paint The Plow Contest in Union County. The V-shaped plow, which featured a gang of penguins, a crashed sleigh, and the theme of this year’s contest, “use your reason when it’s freezing,’” will be displayed year-round outside of PennDOT’s Union County maintenance office on Fairground Road in Lewisburg.
