A man was shot dead Friday night at a public housing complex located in the shadow of the NYPD headquarters in Lower Manhattan, police reported. Authorities said the shooting happened on the campus of the Gov. Alfred E. Smith Houses at 388 Pearl St., about a block away from One Police Plaza, just before 8:50 p.m. on May 9. Officers from the 5th Precinct and NYPD PSA 4, in responding to a 911 call about an assault in progress, found the victim, a 35-year-old man, shot once in the chest.

Brooklyn detectives are looking for the suspect who shot a man at a nail salon on Tuesday night. Police said the shooting occurred inside the business near 795 Crown St. in Crown Heights at about 9:25 p.m. on May 7. Officers from the 71st Precinct, in responding to a 911 call about the shooting, found the victim, a 24-year-old man, lying on the floor of the shop with a gunshot wound to his back. The motive for the shooting remains unknown at this time.
