NORTH CANTON − With the release of the absentee vote count, the "yes" votes for Issue 4, the proposed North Canton income tax increase, are leading with 64% of the vote. The early vote count is 347 to 194. If approved, North Canton's income tax would rise to 2% from 1.5% starting Jan. 1. City officials say the additional revenue would help provide $1 million a year to repay an $18 million loan to finance construction of a new fire station on Viking Street NW and North Main Street.
