A York man with a 'Billy' tattoo on his arm is wanted on suspicion of a serious assault. Police have asked anyone who sees Robert Elkes, 30, to call 999, or 101 if they have information regarding his whereabouts. Elkes also has links to Doncaster and Halifax. Elkes is described as a white man, approximately 5’10” in height, proportionate build, short dark hair, short dark beard, tattoo of the name 'Billy' on his right arm.

A crash on the M62 is causing traffic chaos after a lamppost fell across the carriageway. The crash occurred near Ferrybridge Services, near Knottingley, off junction 33, on the M62 Eastbound exit slip road before 11am today (Wednesday, June 4). The slip road has been closed while the situation is dealt with. The lamppost has fallen across the lanes, blocking traffic attempting to leave the area. Queuing traffic has been forming along the motorway.

A charity box was stolen from a counter in Doncaster Market. The Poppy Appeal charity box was lifted from Marshalls Deli and Rotisserie before 1.58pm on Wednesday, April 16. South Yorkshire Police have launched a CCTV appeal. The force issued the image of a man they would like to 'speak to' in connection with the theft. A police spokesperson said: "CCTV appeal following reported theft of charity box in Doncaster.

'Rapid rising costs' has forced a Harrogate pub to shut its doors for the final time. The Shepherds Dog on Otley Road called last orders on Monday, June 2. Landlord Mike Schofield issued a statement on social media explaining why he's had to pass the keys back to the brewery. Mr Schofield has said he's hopeful the pub will reopen under new management soon. Posting his statement on the pub's official Facebook page, he explained why it was no longer 'sustainable' to run as a business.
