But Julius still managed a smile for his kindergarten graduation photo last week at Hope of Detroit Academy. Detroit firefighters moved fast to save as much history at St. Agnes Church as they could. A witness sent us a video in the report below, showing huge flames shooting into the air. This happened at the now-closed church, along Rosa Parks and West Bethune Street, near Henry Ford Hospital and the Motown Museum.

PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — A Pontiac woman is taking street repair into her own hands — literally. Betty Lewis-Rand, a lifelong Pontiac resident in her 60s, was recently spotted filling potholes herself on her neighborhood street. The video, captured by Melvin Grigsby, shows Lewis-Rand shoveling material into potholes while Grigsby offers words of encouragement. “You gotta ride down this street every day?” Grigsby asked in the video. “Every day,” Lewis-Rand replied.
