The Del McCoury Band brings its legendary traditional-style bluegrass to the Mahaiwe in Great Barrington, Mass., on Saturday at 8pm. The family band featuring Del’s sons Ronnie and Rob has won all the major bluegrass awards as well as several Grammy Awards over the decades. Singer-songwriter Jill Sobule died in a house fire at age 66 at her home in Woodbury, Minnesota, on May 1. A self-described "two-hit wonder," Sobule is best known for her songs "I Kissed a Girl" and "Supermodel."At the time of her death, Sobule was booked on a cross-country tour of the U.S., including gigs at such venerable venues as Club Passim in Cambridge, Mass., and Joe's Pub in New York City.

Barbra Streisand's next album - The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume Two, due out in late June - will consist of duets with the likes of Paul McCartney, Sting, James Taylor, Mariah Carey, Hozier, Sam Smith, Ariana Grande, Josh Groban, Seal, and Icelandic singer-songwriter Laufey. Some of the numbers, including those with McCartney, Sting, and Taylor, are songs written by Streisand's duet partners.

I SOMETIMES LIKE to go back and listen to the Top 10 from the years of my youth, adolescence, and early adulthood. I am often surprised by how many great songs populated the Top 10 in the 1960s and 1970s in any given week. (There was also a fair share of mediocre pop fluff and novelty material.) I also enjoy how the various hits tell a collective story about the musical culture of the time.
