HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — A man wanted in Ohio on gun charges was taken into custody in Huntington, U.S. marshals said. Lerah’j Laron Kirkland, 18, of Columbus, Ohio, was taken into custody about 7:45 a.m. at a residence in the 100 block of Linden Circle in Huntington, according to a news release from the U.S. Marshals Service. He was wanted on felony gun charges in Franklin County, Ohio. A firearm in Kirkland’s possession was also recovered during his arrest, the news release said.

BOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WCHS) — Kentucky State Police are investigating after a man was fatally shot by police during a standoff in Boyd County. The shooting happened about 7 p.m. Tuesday following a standoff on Blackburn Avenue in Ashland, Ky., with a man who police sought in a trespassing and burglary investigation, according to a news release from Kentucky State Police. Ashland police said they spotted the man armed with a shotgun near a church, which led to the standoff.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WCHS) — A man was injured in a shooting overnight at a Kroger parking lot in Charleston, police said. The shooting was reported just before 1 a.m. near the Kroger along Fledderjohn Road, according to the Charleston Police Department. Police said a man was shot in the back during an alleged attempted drug deal. The victim in the incident walked into a Charleston hospital overnight and is in stable condition, police said. No arrests have been made in the incident at this time.

NITRO, W.Va. (WCHS) — One person was ejected from a vehicle in a rollover crash Wednesday morning in Nitro, officials said. The single-vehicle crash was reported about 7:30 a.m. in the 100 block of 40th Street in Nitro, according to a city spokesperson. First responders said the vehicle hit an embankment, causing the truck to flip and come to rest 100 yards from the initial impact point.
