Two months after generational flooding, neighborhoods in West Memphis are once again clear. 200 people in West Memphis were affected, and more than 100 people were rescued from their homes.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The trolleys may be back on track soon — well, sorta. Memphis Area Transit Authority is aiming to roll out rubber-wheeled trolleys on Main Street soon. MATA said they are ready for service after the trolley service was halted this summer, following MATA’s millions of dollars in budget woes and the need for expensive upgrades.

Sharron Finney, a retired school teacher, has been trying to get her home warranty company to help, but they continue to give her the runaround, so she turned to WREG for help. Finney and her dog Annie do what they can to stay cool, blinds, curtains drawn, it’s dark in their home.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — We’ve told you for years about crumbling infrastructure in Shelby County, and the push for a new jail, new schools and the need to rebuild Regional One Hospital. The Shelby County Commissioners are now making a request to the federal government to be designated as a “priority community.”Priority communities can receive grant funds for projects that can better a community. This request also comes with a $10 billion ask.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — There could be a new grocery in store for the Uptown community near downtown if a new project is successful. The Community Redevelopment Agency of Memphis and Shelby County is seeking proposals for what it’s calling its Manassas Market Project at the corner of A.W. Willis and Seventh Street. The proposed 26,000-square-foot site off Jackson Avenue used to be a grocery store, but has sat vacant for more than 15 years.
