    SPEARFISH — On Friday, Black Hills Bike Share returned its fleet of seven-speed bikes to the kiosk in Spearfish city park. Earlier in the week, the council voted to renew its lease with the private company – owned and operated by Breon Derby. Derby is a health and physical education professor at Black Hills State University. She’s always been passionate about inspiring people to get and stay active.     SPEARFISH — The state of South Dakota requires children to receive a certain set of vaccinations before enrolling in school. Two exceptions, in state state law, allow families to opt out of receiving a shot. Students with documented medical or religious reasons to remain unvaccinated can file exemptions with their school district. Roughly 9 percent of students enrolled in the Spearfish School District have filed vaccine exemption forms.

    SPEARFISH — Airport terminal construction at Black Hills Airport, Clyde Ice Field, will cost the city 2.3 percent more than originally planned. The Spearfish City Council voted Monday to unanimously approve $70,867.59 in changes to the project.     BELLE FOURCHE — What started small, as an opportunity to chalk words of kindness in the path of pedestrians at Herrmann Park, has transformed into a fundraiser and community festival designed to support mental health and build buzz for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s (AFSP) annual ‘Out of the Darkness Walk’ in Belle Fourche. On Saturday, food trucks will be on hand and corn hole tournaments underway, not far from face painting and temporary tattoo booths.

    SPEARFISH — The $3.4 million roadway improvement project, designed to widen and urbanize Colorado Boulevard from U.S. Highway 85 to Colorado Loop, has hit a snag. Crews started working on April 1 to widen the two-lane road near the Sky Ridge subdivision.
