DAPHNE, Ala. (WKRG) — For the second straight year, Daphne star pitcher Vic Moten has won one of the highest honors in softball. The senior was named the 2025 Gatorade Alabama Softball Player of the Year on Monday. Moten was, once again, a dominating force both in the circle at at the plate. The Alabama signee led the Trojans to 38 wins and another trip to the Class 7A state softball tournament. She posted a 23-4 record with an 0.79 ERA and pitched more than 150 innings.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A familiar face is back in charge of Faith Academy football. The Rams went through spring under new head coach Gaines Sullivan. While he might be new to the post, he knows the Rams program very well. Sullivan was a longtime assistant coach under Hall of Famer Jack French with the program. Sullivan spent the 2024 season coaching his son’s 7th grade team and he’s thankful for the opportunity to lead the varsity program.

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — The Davidson football team has wrapped up spring practice. Head coach John Lambert enters his second season with the program. Lambert made two big hires in the offseason. Tim Jordan is the new defensive coordinator and Shon Burney takes over as offensive coordinator. The Warriors finished 3-7 last year, but ended the season with some momentum. Davidson won two of their last four games. They hope to carry that momentum into the 2025 campaign.

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WKRG) — There is a lot of understandable excitement around St. Michael football heading into 2025. Head Philip Rivers enters his fifth season with the program. The former NFL star quarterback led the Cardinals to the best season in program history. The Cardinals doubled their win total, going from six wins to 12 wins last season. Their only two losses were to Class 4A state champion Jackson.
