Being a stepparent can be very difficult at the best of times, particularly if you clash with the child’s biological parent. One stepmother was left feeling conflicted after her stepdaughter’s mother told her she wasn’t allowed to use tampons. She explained that she has been married to the girl’s (Alex) dad since she was five, but her biological mother is also remarried.

A six-year-old girl has sadly passed away following a road accident in Co. Westmeath. The young child was involved in a single vehicle collision on February 8th, but was being treated in Temple Street Hospital. However, six-year-old Hannah Meshkat sadly died in hospital on Saturday, February 17th. Her father, aged in his 40s, and nine-year-old brother were also travelling in the car but escaped with minor physical injuries.

Barbie was one of the biggest films to come out of 2023 and it’s continuing to have a major impact on our lives. Not only has Greta Gerwig’s film impressed film critics and cinema-goers, but it has also made it onto the Leaving Cert curriculum. Students sitting their Leaving Cert in 2026 will have the joy of studying the record-breaking movie. According to The Sun, the Department of Education has officially added the movie to the English curriculum.

The school claimed the community has been deeply offended by parents showing up at the school gates in their pyjamas. So much so that they’ve banned them from wearing nightwear at the school. Ayresome Primary School in the UK has called on parents to stop dressing inappropriately on the school run. The school has noticed an increase in parents arriving in slippers, pyjamas, and dressing gowns.

A 12-year-old boy had a lucky escape after he fell into a frozen pond in Dundee, Michigan. The young boy’s life was saved by some incredible heroes, including a policeman and a truck driver. Both Jonathan Garza and Dundee Police Department Officer, Joe Schumaker, happened to be in the area at the time of the incident. Just before 9:00 am, the 12-year-old boy was spotted falling into the frozen water in Dundee. Garza was nearby when he spotted the horrifying incident happen.

Being a parent is a constant balancing act. You’re always running here, there, and everywhere, and there are never enough hours in the day. We all try our best, but sometimes we make mistakes, sometimes we miss appointments or run late for school collection. Being late for pick-up can be stressful for both the parent and their child, but we never mean to be. It’s a common thing. There are subjects that people just don’t click with but unlike German in secondary school, maths class is not optional. While many people dread maths tests and will break out a calculator to make sure they don’t make many mistakes, for some children numbers are just overwhelming. The term ‘maths anxiety’ has been around for about 50 years now, and yet there is still surprisingly little understanding and training given to it in schools.

More traditionally known as December or the run-up to Christmas, either way it’s a stressful time for parents. Originally it was the hunt for presents, buying all new clothes and trying to get the food shop sorted that left us all feeling drained but in recent years a new task has been added to the list. It’s a tiny elf dressed in a rather funky outfit that parents have to remember to move around the house daily to keep the magic alive.

A dad has caused conflict online after admitting he doesn’t bring his son to daycare if he isn’t ready on time. His wife is against this action, but the dad goes against her wishes and keeps the toddler at home. He told Reddit that he is trying to teach his son a lesson, but isn’t he too young? He said their three-year-old attends daycare during the day and he is the one who drops him off. “My wife cannot drive so she unfortunately cannot take him,” he explained.
