By SPENCER [email protected] — While the Salamanca Lizards may have fallen to the Dansville Gliders for their third loss in a row, the way in which they battled in their 4-3 defeat was a positive sign for the program. Salamanca entered the game against the Gliders on the back of two hefty defeats against the Syracuse Salt Cats in a doubleheader the night before, losing by a combined score of 27-6.

By SPENCER [email protected] — After a week away from the field, Olean 1854 showed that the time off was not detrimental, putting together a well-rounded effort in its 2-1 victory over Buffalo United SS. The Roughnecks were aggressive in their surges up the field, pinning Buffalo back on defense for the grand majority of the first half. And when it came time to defend their advantage, they expertly repelled one attack after another.

By SPENCER [email protected] — Over the course of their six-game winless streak, consistent offense eluded the Salamanca Lizards. But no matter how frustrating their lack of production was over that span, coach Jerico Weitzel and the rest of the Lizards’ coaching staff maintained that they were doing nothing wrong and it was only a matter of time until those fly-outs turned into hits.

By SPENCER [email protected] — The Salamanca Lizards’ search for consistent production on the bats will continue as they once again struggled to see strong connections find unoccupied parts of the field. In its 3-1 loss to the Genesee Rapids, Salamanca struck out just four times, a number that, on its own, may paint a story of victory. However, only tallying two hits on the night meant that the hosts kept an effective defense busy.
