Each month, Welcome Home highlights a child in the foster care system who is up for adoption. Isabella enjoys playing sports, but most of all, she would love to visit New Orleans. Her favorite part of the Crescent City is something we can all agree on: the food.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Halfway through the school year, students could start seeing the Ten Commandments posted in every Louisiana classroom, specifically in public schools. However, there’s a lawsuit that could upend the law before it’s set in stone. Republican Representative Dodie Horton, of Haughton, authored the bill that mandates a poster of the Ten Commandments must be displayed in every classroom. This made the bayou state the first in the nation to enact such a mandate.

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Students are hitting the books again for a new school year, and new laws may bring changes to Louisiana schools. State lawmakers were busy last spring, pushing through several major education reforms during the legislative session. One law prohibits students from using cellphones in class. State Superintendent Cade Brumley says he’s been working with districts to implement the law that had bipartisan support.
