SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Halfway through the school year, students could start seeing the Ten Commandments posted in every Louisiana classroom, specifically in public schools. However, there’s a lawsuit that could upend the law before it’s set in stone. Republican Representative Dodie Horton, of Haughton, authored the bill that mandates a poster of the Ten Commandments must be displayed in every classroom. This made the bayou state the first in the nation to enact such a mandate.

State lawmakers were busy last spring, pushing through several major education reforms during the legislative session. One law prohibits students from using cellphones in class. Larry “Bob” Ballard went missing from the Douglasville area on April 27, 2023. Bob, 56, was last seen at 11 p.m. on County Road 2116 and County Road 2118, where his truck had become stuck. His wife Connie says he left behind his money, phone and truck. “It’s been hell,” said Connie. “I’m used to having my other half. I have had to go to work and do everything by myself.
