SHREVEPORT, La. - After Sunday's shooting in Ford Park, Shreveport City Council members wanted answers and solutions to prevent future crime in that parks and others in the city. Over the years, Ford Park has been the site of drag racing, vandalism, and other violent activity. City Council members in the past have asked about beefing up security. And after Sunday, they want to know why these things keep happening there. Ford Park is in City Council Chairwoman Tabatha Taylor's district.

BOSSIER CITY, La. - The honors for the 59-0 LSUS Pilots keep coming in. Head coach Brad Neffendorf has been named the Skip Bertman Coach of the Year. The pilots were recognized again Sunday at Louisiana Downs. Even though the Pilots were being honored at Louisiana Downs for their historic year, you can bet they still had their eyes on the TV watching the NCAA World Series game, cheering on the LSU Tigers.

SHREVEPORT, La. - In February, the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office and the Shreveport Police Department announced a partnership for a new crime initiative named after Landry Anglin and Devin Myers. Monday afternoon, Willis-Knighton made a donation of $48,000 that will go towards buying 10 cameras for the Anglin-Myers Initiative. Landry Anglin and Devin Myers were 13 and 17 years old, respectively, when they were killed in separate acts of gun violence.

American Legion honors Flag Day

SHREVEPORT, La. - A Hammond man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after leaving his 21-month-old daughter in a hot car on Sunday. Shreveport has seen similar arrests of people leaving kids in cars in the toasty Louisiana summers. The last time Shreveport saw a death like the one in Hammond was in 2021. Meagan Everett pleaded guilty in January to negligent homicide after her one-year-old son died from being left in a car seat for at least 4 hours. Cpl.

SHREVEPORT, La. - Shreveport City Council members were back in chambers Monday for their administrative meeting. Alcohol and permits were on the agenda. Their main discussion centered on a proposed amendment to the city's unified development code that governs alcohol retail sales. City Council Chairwoman Tabatha Taylor said amending the code will take care of citizen complaints about the growing number of liquor stores in some neighborhoods.
