Michael Miner, a prolific and penetrating media critic for the Chicago Reader and before that, a shoe-leather reporter for the Sun-Times, died on May 1, according to a posted death notice. He was 81 and had received a liver transplant in 2014 after being diagnosed more than a decade earlier with primary sclerosing cholangitis, an inflammation of the bile ducts.

Lori Healey, whose revolving door whirled as she shifted back and forth between the public and private sectors, most notably as president of Chicago's Olympic bid effort, chief of staff to Mayor Richard M. Daley and CEO of McPier, has died at 65. She had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, according to Marilynn Gardner, a friend and CEO of Navy Pier.

John Rau, a banker who had a knack for reaching the top of several Chicago financial institutions and then moving on to something else, died early last week in Bloomington, Ind. He was 77 and was visiting the city as an executive in residence at Indiana's University Kelley School of Business, where he had been the dean. Patrick Hopkins, Kelley's current dean, said Rau died overnight in a hotel near campus of unspecified causes.
