Some months you will find Hannah Greenwood tapping away at a keyboard at West Suffolk Hospital whereas others she can be spotted ‘playing keys’ for an internationally recognised band. Throughout the year, the 34-year-old alternates between working in admin at the hospital, in Bury St Edmunds, and touring the world with band Creeper. Last year the musician and vocalist, who lives with fiancé Jack near Sudbury, co-headlined Wembley Arena with the goth rock band she has been a member of for a decade.

Nearly 1,000 fans helped create a ‘brilliant atmosphere’ for Bury Town’s community day which saw young players cheered as they took part in a parade. The annual event at the Ram Meadow stadium, on Saturday, raised £500 for the Bury Town Community FC (BTCFC) charity. First team players and coaching staff cheered on the pitch parade as players waved flags. Jason Day, trustee and recruitment officer for BTCFC, said the event was a ‘fantastic example of what Bury Town is all about’.

Councils across Suffolk have announced changes to bin collections due to the Easter bank holidays. West Suffolk CouncilIn West Suffolk, including Bury St Edmunds, Newmarket and Haverhill, changes will come into effect from tomorrow (Good Friday). Residents who would usually have their bins collected tomorrow will instead have them collected on Tuesday. Changes will then be in place until after the early bank holiday, on May 5. A normal service will then resume on Monday, May 12.

A second book believed to be partly bound in the skin of murderer William Corder has gone on display at Moyse’s Hall museum after being discovered on a bookcase. Corder, was found guilty and executed, for the ‘Red Barn Murder’ of Maria Marten in Polstead, near Hadleigh, in 1827. Daniel Clarke, heritage officer at the museum in Bury St Edmunds, said the murder is ‘one of the most infamous of the 19th century’.

The father of a student nurse training at a Suffolk hospital has launched a petition calling for university tuition fees to be abolished for those on healthcare courses. Alex Lawrence, 64, of Eye, is also calling for students on NHS placements to be paid. The engineering store manager, who works in Stowmarket, said he feels proud of his daughter Tabatha, 20, who regularly works 12-hour shifts, unpaid, because she is studying.
