COLUMBUS, Miss. (WTVA) - A federal grand jury indicted a former Lowndes County bank teller for embezzlement. The grand jury handed down the indictment against Hailey Sheets on June 12. She worked at a Trustmark branch where she allegedly stole approximately $50,000 from her teller drawer. This happened between November and February, according to the indictment. SHANNON, Miss. (WTVA) - Shannon finalized its June 3 election results. Mayor Paul Lyles won reelection with 42% of the vote. He won the election over Timothy Tubb and Sherry Thompson Gill, who received 38% and 20% of the vote, respectively. Kelvin Miller won the alderman at large race. NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WTVA) - A jury convicted a man of capital murder in the death of an infant in Union County. Jurors found Arthur Eurek guilty on Wednesday in the 2023 death of Ryker Burns. He received a life sentence without the possibility of parole. The child suffered a severe head injury while under Eurek's care and later died at a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

AMORY, Miss. (WTVA) - A carjacking in Monroe County resulted in the arrest of a 29-year-old man. Zaccheaus Vasser allegedly sexually assaulted a juvenile on June 5 at an apartment complex on 111th Street in Amory, according to Amory Police Sgt. Jake Hall. Vasser then fled to another, separate apartment complex on Lee Avenue where he hid in the back of a random SUV.

FULTON, Miss. (WTVA) - An Itawamba County jury found a man guilty of a 2022 murder. Jurors found Jay Alexander West guilty on Friday afternoon of first-degree murder, District Attorney Jason Herring confirmed. He received a life sentence. West shot and killed Tyler Ward, 28, in September 2022. The shooting happened on Deck Taylor Road in the Golden community. That's where authorities found Ward with a gunshot wound to the stomach. He later died from his injuries.
