A former Wichita State basketball fan favorite is catching his first break in the Division I coaching world at his alma mater. It turns out P.J. Couisnard, who scored 1,303 points for the Shockers and played a key role in the 2006 Sweet 16 run, will have a second act at Koch Arena. According to multiple sources with knowledge of the situation, Wichita State is expected to hire Couisnard as the newest assistant coach on Paul Mills’ staff in the coming days.

After enrolling at Kansas State this January, incoming freshman safety Noah King has already entered the transfer portal. King, a four-star safety from Cincinnati, Ohio, was part of Chris Klieman’s successful 2025 recruiting class. But according to several media reports on Thursday afternoon, King will be looking for a new home before ever putting on a K-State uniform. He was rated as the 216th-best player in the class of 2025 and the 26th-best cornerback by 247Sports.
