Parklands School, which supports youngsters with additional support needs, hosted the event for all secondary pupils at the Charlotte Street building on May 22 and it went down a treat. The pupils and their guests were given a warm welcome when piped in on arrival by John Low from the Helensburgh Pipe Band. There was a delicious buffet which was donated by popular Helensburgh businesses Deli in the Square and the Palace Chip Shop.

Kaleb Lynn was inspired to take part in Glasgow's Race for Life on May 18 to honour his late gran Bernadette Hunter, who died from cholangiocarcinoma of the bile duct in December last year. The 10-year-old Hermitage Primary pupil was determined to make his gran proud and took on the challenge to raise funds for Cancer Research. His proud mum Kerry told the Advertiser: "That was his first time dealing with death in the family and understanding the impact of cancer.

Argyle Care Centre on West Argyle Street has made great improvements to its staff recruitment, personal care plans and medication record-keeping since requirements were issued by the Care Inspectorate last September. At the time of the inspection, the facility had the 'adequate' rating remain the same despite numerous inspections since complaints were raised with the watchdog in June 2023.

Eileen and Peter Jacobs acquired a 50-acre site on the Peaton Hill in 1999, aiming to create a residency for local, national and international artists. The first residencies began in May 2000, which welcomed only five artists, but now in 2025, it has welcomed over 300 artists from across the globe. And to mark the milestone a year-long programme of special projects, events, residencies and commissions is now underway.
