LINCOLN TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Lincoln Charter Township Fire Department and Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety responded to and extinguished a structure fire on Friday morning that fire officials say was started by a wall heater. Crews responded to the home in the 5900 block of Dunham Avenue in Lincoln Township around 9:30 a.m. on April 18 and found smoke showing from the roof and fire coming from a corner of the home.

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- A Mishawaka Police Officer and his K9 partner tracked and apprehended two men who fled from a traffic accident early Friday morning. The Mishawaka Police Department says a night shift officer located a vehicle that was reported stolen out of Wisconsin around 2:30 a.m. and attempted a traffic stop. "The driver initially stopped," MPD said.

MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- A South Bend woman has officially been sentenced after she pleaded guilty of federal felony embezzling over $37,000 from the Mishawaka Post Office during her time as the Lead Sales and Service Associate at the office. Forty-two-year-old Jaterria M. Davis, of South Bend, was sentenced by the U.S. District Court to probation and she is required to repay the $37,023 that was stolen. for charges that are considered federal felonies.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend announced on Friday that the Ireland Road and Ironwood Drive Intersection Improvement Project is moving into Phase 2 with work shifting to the northeast corner of the intersection starting on Monday, April 21. "During this phase, traffic through the intersection will remain limited to one through lane and one left turn lane," a city spokesperson said. "Westbound traffic on Ireland Road will not be able to turn right onto Ironwood Drive.
