ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- The U.S. Corps of Engineers, Detroit District will begin dredging outer St. Joseph Harbor on May 13 to remove shoaling, perform preventative maintenance at the harbor mouth to avoid interruptions to the commercial shipping season, and keep the federal channel open. Authorities say hydraulic dredging -- pumping sediment through a temporary pipeline -- will be used to clear the shoal at the harbor.

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- A traffic stop in Marshall County Saturday evening resulted in the arrest of 32-year-old Harvey Burkett Jr. on multiple charges, including Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated and Endangering a Person. A Marshall County Sheriff's Department K9 Deputy initiated a traffic stop around 7 p.m. in the area of US 31 and 9A Road. "During the traffic stop, suspected cocaine, marijuana, and a firearm were located in the vehicle," the MCSD said.

BEVERLY SHORES, Ind. -- Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating after a fisherman discovered a body about two miles offshore from Lake Michigan's Central Beach. Authorities say officers arrived on the scene shortly after 8 a.m. and found the body of an unidentified person. "Due to the condition of the body, the person appears to have been missing for an extended period of time," the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Law Enforcement said.

CASS COUNTY, Mich. -- The Cass County Sheriff's Office was called to a suspected home invasion on Saturday that ended with K9 Sitka sniffing out the suspect, who was hiding a short distance from the home. Authorities say the call came in around 9:43 p.m. and deputies arrived in the Village of Cassopolis to assist Cassopolis Police Department at the scene. "Upon deputy’s arrival Cassopolis PD advised that the suspect had fled from the residence prior to deputy’s arrival," the CCSO said.

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- A police chase through parts of Marshall County ended relatively peacefully Thursday afternoon and a 27-year-old Indianapolis man was taken into custody by Marshall County Sheriff's Office Deputies. Authorities say they were notified a stolen vehicle was traveling south on US 31 from US 6 in Marshall County around 2:29 p.m. on May 8.
