OXFORD — The Calhoun County Amateur Radio Association will join thousands of amateur radio operators across North America on June 28-29 for the American Radio Relay League’s annual Field Day. The event will be held locally at 195 Recreation Drive in Oxford. This year’s theme, “Radio Connects,” highlights the power of wireless technology to bring people together — and the critical role ham radio plays in times of emergency. Field Day is the largest annual on-the-air event in the U.S. and Canada.

GADSDEN - The city of Glencoe has donated a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe to the Gadsden State Community College Police and Public Safety Department. The donation aims to strengthen campus safety while providing hands-on training for students in the school's Collision Repair program. The fully equipped vehicle, which was declared surplus by the Glencoe City Council and sold to the college for $1, was restored by Gadsden State students under the guidance of instructor Bruce Hill.
