PENDLETON, ORE. - According to the Director of Administrative Services Umatilla County received about 21% of the registered voters' ballots by October 29, 2024. Oregon was the first state to have mail in voting put into law in 2000. Before that, some lawmakers were working to expand mail in voting in the 1990s. Lonai said, "When we bring the ballots in we actually scan the envelopes and the machine checks the signatures. Then we have a human check the signatures. That's what we call the first round.

UMATILLA, Ore. -- The City of Umatilla celebrated the reopening of Nugent Park with a ribbon cutting on Tuesday. For the last two years, the baseball field got revamped in the infield and outfield, including getting a new scoreboard. The biggest change revealed is the new play area. The new playground replaced the old equipment which was more than 50 years old. The playground has a squishy ground cover which makes it safer for kids, especially for when they climb around the new equipment.

RICHLAND, Wash. - The Academy of Children's Theatre is putting on the musical "Newsies" at Richland High School. Newsies takes place during the turn of the century in New York City. The musical is based on a true story in which the local newspaper boys fight against the paper publisher for fair wages. Josh Darby, the Artistic and Education Director said, "It's this beautiful, moving story of how these newsboys stand up against Pulitzer, the Pulitzer Prize, you know the newspaper.

MOSES LAKE, Wash. - The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin received a $175,000 donation to keep its sites open for kids from August through December of this year. When the Moses Lake School District announced it had a shortfall of $170,000 earlier this year, and that the deficit would impact the continuing operation of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin, Group 14 Technologies stepped up to the plate.
