KENNEWICK, Wash. – A senior dog missing for three years across the country has finally made it home thanks to a viral post from Tri-Cities Animal Services. Tri-Cities Animal Services said that on December 13, 2024, Kennewick Police Department had jailed a man who had two small dogs in his car. Tri-Cities Animal Services took both the dogs in, and while one of them found a home quickly, the other, an 8.5-year-old Jack Russell Terrier mix they named “Old-Timer,” never had anyone come looking for him.

KENNEWICK, Wash. - The Kennewick Police Department investigated a drive-by shooting Monday. It happened on Clearwater Avenue between Union and Huntington just before 1 p.m.According to information released by KPD, a person was in a car going eastbound on W Clearwater Avenue and passing North Union Street when an older white sedan pulled up alongside it. Witnesses reported that at least three people were in the white sedan when someone began firing at the other car.

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Commander Merkl with the Kennewick Police Department confirmed to Apple Valley News Now Phoenix High School is on secure and teach after reports of a person with a gun nearby. According to KPD, officers were called to the area around 1 p.m. after it was reported a teen was in a mental health crisis and may have access to a weapon. Phoenix High School is located on 4th Avenue and Olympia Street in Kennewick.

BENTON CO., Wash. - Wildland firefighters continued to monitor a large area of southeastern Benton County after a wildfire broke out there Saturday. Fire officials said the Les Blair Road Fire burned about 510 acres but that amount may change as crews continue to assess the area. Two power poles were damaged in the fire but there were no reports of power outages. Power crews were sent to the area and went to work making repairs. A shed that was in the area had minor damage.

BENTON CO., Wash. - Fire officials said at last check the Ayers Fire, burning in southeastern Benton County has burned about 450 acres and is about 60% contained. Firefighters responded to the fire around 7:30 p.m. in the area of South Meals Road and South Ayers Road, and in the Hover Park area. Fire officials said it appeared the fire had been burning for awhile, but it is possible, with so many fires in the area, it was considered part of the nearby Les Blair Road Fire upon the first calls.
