First responders will administer the medication to people in the throes of withdrawal. Supporters say the program will decrease opioid deaths. A new approach supporters contend will further drive down Ventura County's fentanyl deaths uses first responders to deliver withdrawal medication to people struggling with opioid use. Emergency medical teams from ambulance providers and fire departments in the county already carry supplies of Narcan, a medication that reverses effects of an opioid overdose.

The popular sand courts will stay in their current site for now. Efforts to find middle ground are set to continue. Volleyball coaches say there are no adequate alternatives. The serves, digs and spikes will continue for now at popular Ventura Harbor beach volleyball courts. The California Coastal Commission delayed any final decision on the sand courts at Harbor Cove Beach in a meeting May 9 in Half Moon Bay.

Nuñez , who had been acting CEO for Gold Coast Health Plan, was given the permanent position by the Ventura County Medi-Cal Managed Care Commission on April 28.

The course closed after storms in January 2023. The reopened course temporarily includes 14 holes. A community meeting on the course could come soon. Vic Alvarez couldn’t get over the color. The retired detective wheeled the push cart carrying his golf clubs up a fairway at Buenaventura Golf Course on May 2. Hours earlier, Ventura city officials reopened 14 holes after the course that sits in a flood plain had been closed for more then two years.
