The Rochester Lilac Festival has also become a food festival where you can enjoy a plethora of festival fare including Kettle Korn, blooming onions, corn dogs, fried turkey legs, snow cones, candy apples and so much more. A popular bagel shop in Irondequoit has announced that it's closed for good. Bagels Etc. has been closed at Hudson and Titus Avenues in Irondequoit Plaza since it was damaged by a three-alarm fire on Feb. 15. Owner Scott Sheets announced the permanent closure on Facebook on May 8. "Due to the events that occurred on Feb. 15th, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of Bagels Etc.," he wrote.

On the heels of the popular Petit Poutinerie poutine food truck closing, Rochester is also losing The Meatball Truck Co., known for its meatballs and truffle fries. For the past 12 years, the black trucks with white writing have been a regular presence at food truck rodeos and events like the Rochester International Jazz Festival and the Rochester Lilac Festival.

Rochester's first Yemeni coffee shop is up and running, and in general, it's hopping. At the Henrietta shop, as at most coffee shops, you'll likely encounter students from nearby colleges engrossed in their laptops and people ordering coffee drinks to go. But generally speaking, Layali Coffee House has the vibe of a place to socialize. The shop really comes to life at night, when most coffee shops are closed.

Food truck rodeos at the Rochester Public Market have been a perennial part of summers in Rochester since 2011. The market will kick off its 2025 season on Wednesday, April 30. The events will continue from 5 to 9 p.m. on the last Wednesday of each month through September at the market at 280 N. Union St.Food truck rodeo musical actsIn addition to delicious food from the Rochester area's many eateries on wheels, the events also feature live music.
