DETROIT LAKES — Cold and windy weather didn't stop dozens of brave skiers and snowboarders from testing their skills during the Detroit Mountain Pond Skim on Saturday. Participants, dressed in all sorts of costumes — or in some instances, not wearing much more than swim trunks — picked up speed as they bombed down a hill toward a pool of water, with the goal of crossing the entire length of the man-made pond's frigid waters. The event marks the end of the Mountain's winter season.
