The McHenry Elementary Education Foundation will host a craft and vendor fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday at Parkland School, 1802 N. Ringwood Road in McHenry. The event will feature more than 60 craft and vendor displays. Parking and admission to the event are free. Musical entertainment will be provided by McHenry School District 15 students from McHenry Middle School, Parkland and the Riverwood Performing Arts Club. Raffle prizes and MJ’s Coffee Bar will be available.

The annual Plano High School madrigal performances are planned for 6 p.m. Dec. 2 and 4 p.m. Dec. 3 in the PHS auditorium. Come out and support 80 madrigal singers, actors and instrumentalists. DIXON – The Dixon City Council has approved a request from the city’s fire chief to increase the cost of an ambulance ride. The cost for an ambulance transport had been $1,000; it will increase to $1,500 per ride based on action taken by the council at its most recent regular meeting. Before the vote, Dixon Fire Chief Ryan Buskohl said the last increase was in the fall of 2019 and the hike is needed because of escalating operating costs.

OREGON – Ogle County law enforcement is searching for a former Chana man and Illinois Department of Corrections parolee now also accused of taking part in a stabbing in Rochelle in early October. A warrant was issued nationwide for Bailey J. Gildea, 29, of Rochelle, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office posted Thursday. He is charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, mob action, aggravated fleeing to elude, and resisting arrest.

Students in the Yorkville School District 115 can now see their calendar for next year, and middle school students will have some new course options in the coming year. Y115 school board members voted unanimously and without discussion to approve the 2024-2025 school year calendar and several new courses at their Nov. 27 meeting. Next school year will begin on Aug. 15, 2024, and end May 28, 2025.
