WASHINGTON, D.C. (WDHN) — Several Wiregrass veterans had the chance to visit the nation’s capital to see the monuments that honor the sacrifices made by our troops overseas. Funded and orchestrated by Wiregrass Honor Flights, these veterans were able to visit the Arlington National Cemetery, where they watched the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. There, our local veterans were celebrated and thanked by other visitors for their service.

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — A local up-and-coming country music artist will hit the big stage in the newly revamped Dothan Opera House. Samson native, Wright, will be performing at the Dothan Opera House on Saturday, July 12. The performance is a part of the ‘listening room’ sessions at the opera house. Wright was a standout on American Idol this past season. Since his audition, Wright says many have contacted him about performing in more intimate settings.

DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — After receiving a key to the city of Enterprise three years ago, more awards have come in for an Army veteran, who received a Carnegie Medal for saving his neighbor in a burning house in 2022. “I’d never expected to receive anything remotely close to a national award. I just thought it was the right thing to do, I never expected it to reach this point,” said Marvin PinckneyPinckney sprang into action to save his elderly neighbor, Mary Griffin, and her caretaker, Angie Byrd.
