Marshall swept Georgia State as it continues to climb the Sun Belt Conference college baseball standings ahead of the SBC tournament that begins May 20, 2025, in Montgomery, Alabama. Nolan Wilson had seven runs batted in in the series while Elijah Vogelsong had three in Atlanta. Maika Niu, Jackson Halter and Tyler Kamerer each had multi-hit outings in the final game of the series. Niu has now has 18 and Halter has 16. Kamerer now has four three-hit games on the year.

Marshall softball’s season ended on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference tournament with a 5-2 loss to No. 7 seed Coastal Carolina. But the second season for Thundering Herd under coach Morgan Zerkle was one of improvement. Marshall was chosen as the No. 7-rated team in the conference in the preseason poll. The Herd made a six-win improvement in year two under Zerkle and finished five spots above its preseason projection as the regular season runner-up.

Marshall picked up a trio of new football commitments this week with a special teams pickup, as well a running back and a defensive back. Most notably, former WVU and Houston running back Tony Mathis Jr. committed to Marshall on Wednesday. Mathis played at WVU from 2019-2022 before heading to Houston. Mathis may be one of the biggest adds that Marshall has gotten for the 2025 season purely due to his playing experience.

Marshall’s softball season ended on Thursday in a 5-2 loss to Coastal Carolina in the quarterfinals of the Sun Belt Conference tournament in Troy, Alabama. The Thundering Herd was stifled in a complete-game victory for Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year Nicolette Picone. She struck out five batters and allowed just six hits and two earned runs. Marshall was held without an extra-base hit in the contest. Kasia Parks and Rielly Lucas each had two hits.

Mike Green was introduced to the media by the Baltimore Ravens for the first time on Sunday following the first day of rookie camp. Green will wear No. 45 for the Ravens. Quarterback Cooper Rush wears No. 15, the number Green wore at Marshall. Green immediately shared his excitement for joining the NFL ranks. “It means a lot. This team has a lot of great culture that’s been going around,” Green said. “You have to think about the guys that have come through here — Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs.
