HAMPTON COUNTY, S.C. (WTOC) - A judge has ruled on several long standing motions in a lawsuit between the family of Mallory Beach and Parker’s Corporation. Parker’s had filed motions to get the case dismissed and get the Beach family attorneys thrown off the case. On Friday, a judge denied both of those motions and set a trial date for the case to be heard by a jury. The Parkers and the Beachs’ came to a $15,000,000 settlement in 2023. However, this is a different case.

COLUMBIA, SC. (WTOC) - It has been more than two years since Alex Murdaugh was convicted of murdering his wife and son. His legal team has been trying to get that ruling overturned since. The state is now asking South Carolina’s Supreme Court for 120 more days to respond to Murdaugh’s appeal. This is the second time the state has asked for an extension. The deputy attorney general says they had to restructure their appellate team and that’s why they need more time to respond.
