AbstractThe gut microbiota (GM) can regulate bone mass, but its association with incident fractures is unknown. We used Cox regression models to determine whether the GM composition is associated with incident fractures in the large FINRISK 2002 cohort (n = 7043, 1092 incident fracture cases, median follow-up time 18 years) with information on GM composition and functionality from shotgun metagenome sequencing.

AbstractMultiomics has shown promise in noninvasive risk profiling and early detection of various common diseases. In the present study, in a prospective population-based cohort with ~18 years of e-health record follow-up, we investigated the incremental and combined value of genomic and gut metagenomic risk assessment compared with conventional risk factors for predicting incident coronary artery disease (CAD), type 2 diabetes (T2D), Alzheimer disease and prostate cancer.

AbstractIntellectual disability (ID) is a common disorder, yet there is a wide spectrum of impairment from mild to profoundly affected individuals. Mild ID is seen as the low extreme of the general distribution of intelligence, while severe ID is often seen as a monogenic disorder caused by rare, pathogenic, highly penetrant variants.

AbstractGenome-wide association analyses using high-throughput metabolomics platforms have led to novel insights into the biology of human metabolism1,2,3,4,5,6,7. This detailed knowledge of the genetic determinants of systemic metabolism has been pivotal for uncovering how genetic pathways influence biological mechanisms and complex diseases8,9,10,11.

Correction to: Nature Genetics https://doi.org/10.1038/s41588-021-00991-z, published online 3 February 2022. In the version of the article initially published, the descriptions of two FUT2 genotypes were inverted. In Fig. 4c and Extended Data Fig. 7b and their legends, “rs601338:GG/GA” and “rs601338:AA” previously read “rs601338:AG/AA” and “rs601338:GG”, respectively.
