Hope you are having a great Wednesday, weather blog readers. It has been warm and windy as temperatures warmed into the 70s. We will stay mild overnight, with temperatures tomorrow morning only reaching about 60. That will be due to some rain-cooled air as storms move through. The timeframe is generally from 3-8 a.m., likely impacting the morning commute to some degree. These storms may be a bit loud with thunder and lightning, hail, and gusty winds.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Located in the rolling hills of eastern Kansas - just west of Kansas City - is Tonganoxie. It's a small city but some say it has a big impact on the city's weather - The Tonganoxie Split. Is the Tonganoxie Split a real weather phenomenon? KSHB 41's Wes Peery finds out "A former weatherman, I think on one of the channels, coined that and it had something to do with the weather patterns, how they approach here and then veer off in another direction," Mike Emery told me.

Wes here with some good news: no severe weather expected and no wild temperature swings in the forecast. Just cool nights, warm afternoons and a few light rain chances over the next week or so. Monday has been quiet, with clear skies and high pressure gradually sliding in behind a cold front that moved through earlier today. A freeze warning is in effect tonight across nearly the entire area, with temperatures falling into the mid to upper 20s.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Good morning weather blog readers! For the third time this winter—on its very last day—we are under a high wind warning. This has been the windiest year since at least 1948 in terms of average wind gust speed. This morning starts off warm, with temperatures in the 60s and relatively breezy conditions. However, compared to what’s coming later, the morning breeze will feel mild. This afternoon, wind gusts of 50-60 mph are expected.

Sorry the weather has been so boring lately, I'll see if we can get a Midwest volcanic eruption or something this weekend #mowx #kcwx #kswx https://t.co/6G5yCiSipc

Did you see this first map on Tuesday showing a high probability of severe weather(red) in 2 weeks? The same weather model on Wednesday has much lower chances. The moral of the story is, it's April! There'll be severe weather, but take it one week at a time #mowx #kswx #kcwx https://t.co/Jc42Vg9b4c
