The 2023 vibes are strong with the 2025 Guardians. Two years ago, on the heels of a surprisingly stellar season, Cleveland treaded water for months, with an inept offense, an uncharacteristically shaky closer and an inability to piece together an inspiring stretch. Sound familiar? Two years ago, that performance compelled the front office to ship out Amed Rosario, Aaron Civale and Josh Bell at the trade deadline. Are these Guardians headed for a similar fate in late July?

Look, you probably think you know your Guardians. They're 67 games into the 2025 season, and you may feel like you have a handle on what they're all about. CLEVELAND - There's a long, narrow hallway that connects the visitors clubhouse to the visitors dugout at Progressive Field. It's straight out of Apple TV's "Severance," a seemingly unending path with white walls and no artwork or personality or life. You can walk for miles and occasionally pass by a room. Maybe it's where umpires get dressed. Maybe it's full of baby goats or number-crunching innies.

CLEVELAND - One afternoon in September 2013, Cleveland's pitchers roamed the outfield grass during batting practice. So, too, did a chicken. Depending on whom you ask, it was either Corey Kluber or Justin Masterson who decided to convert the outfield into fowl territory, the master plan to boost morale after a rough road trip that threatened the team's postseason chances. The chicken, though, became part of the team's identity (and part of reliever Cody Allen's responsibilities.

NEW YORK - People have been asking about the vaunted Cleveland pitching factory. They've been wondering if it's still functioning, if grizzled coaches are still studying arm slots and crafting arsenals, if quarter zip-wearing data hounds are still clutching onto iPads that spit out spin rates and movement profiles. They've been concerned that the assembly line that, for years, churned out proficient big-league pitchers has ceased production.

Jhonkensy Noel to AAA Johnathan Rodriguez up

Shane Bieber will be shut down from throwing until the middle of next week (one week from when soreness surfaced). He’ll be re-checked at that point to determine his readiness to continue his progression.

Shane Bieber will not start Friday for Akron. He reported soreness after throwing a bullpen session the other day. He met with team doctors and will consult with Dr. Keith Meister to figure out what’s next.
