LURAY, Va. (WHSV) - Shenandoah National Park will adopt a cashless fee system starting July 1, meaning entrance and campground fees must be mobile or electronic payments, according to an SNP release. Park visitors can also pay entrance, campground and permitting fees online at www.recreation.gov before their trip. Debit and credit card payments are also accepted in person. Meanwhile, park bookstores and facilities such as gift shops, lodging, waysides and restaurants will still accept cash.

(WWBT) - As outside temperatures approach triple digits in Central Virginia, first responders want to make sure everyone is taking the proper precautions to avoid heat stroke. “As the heat rises, we have a lot of people outside. They’re [in] the sun. They’re enjoying themselves, so they don’t realize how hot they’re getting. So taking the time to cool off is important,” Henrico Division of Fire Asst. Chief Mike Crawford said.
